Although there has been so much support for Anabels I would love to give a personal blog to what Anabel’s stands for, for the people who still haven’t heard of us! To give more insight about Anabel’s, beyond selling groceries we give back to our local community by buying fresh local products. Anabel’s is also a hub for education and advocacy. The store hosts cooking workshops, nutrition seminars, and discussions on food justice. These events give students hands-on experience in preparing healthy meals, understanding food labels, and making informed choices about their diet. Whether it’s a workshop on meal prepping for a busy semester or a panel discussion on sustainable food systems, Anabel’s creates opportunities for students to engage with food beyond just consumption. The grocery also actively supports students facing food insecurity through subsidized meal programs, emergency grocery support, and partnerships with other campus initiatives which includes being the only store that accepts Snap!. These efforts ensure that students in need have access to nourishing meals without stigma or financial stress. By reducing financial barriers to nutritious food, Anabel’s ensures that everyone has the fuel they need to thrive academically and personally.

How to Get Involved:
Anabel’s Grocery thrives because of student involvement. Whether through volunteering, attending workshops, or simply choosing to shop there, every Cornell student has the opportunity to contribute to this impactful initiative. For those passionate about food justice and sustainability, joining the AEM 3385 (Anabel’s) team provides valuable experience in nonprofit operations, community engagement, and food systems management. And no you don’t have to be in the class directly to make an impact! Cornell students can also support Anabel’s by participating in fundraising events such as giving day, spreading awareness through social media, or simply encouraging friends to shop at the store. Every purchase and every hour volunteered helps sustain Anabel’s mission of making healthy, affordable food accessible to all Cornell students.
